COMACCHIO
Comacchio still maintains all the characteristics of a lagoon town, surrounded by many wonders, in the old world of the eel fishermen.
Outstanding for their importance and beauty are the Cathedral with its Bell Tower, the famous Trepponti bridge, Palazzo Bellini, museums housing remains of Roman ships and painting exhibitions, etc.; there is no lack of events of various kinds. |
VALLI DI COMACCHIO
Valli di Comacchio, to the south of the town of Comacchio, is an area with a body of water of over 11,000 hectares which can be reached by bicycle or in a motor ship from Bettolino di Foce; it is an excellent place for bird watching, where birds can be seen in their natural habitat. |

THE PARK OF THE PO DELTA
The Park of the Po Delta with its 54 thousand hectares is the largest Regional Park in Emilia Romagna.
The Park occupies a very important portion of the territory of the Region, starting in the north, from the Po di Goro; it extends over the historic delta and includes the mouths of a number of rivers that come down from the Apennines, such as the Reno, the Lamone, the Fiumi Uniti, the Bevano and the brackish wetlands situated along the Adriatic coast.
The territory includes parts of the provinces of Ferrara and Ravenna, as well as the municipalities of Mesola, Goro, Codigoro, Comacchio, Argenta, Ostellato, Alfonsine, Ravenna and Cervia.

POMPOSA ABBEY
Pomposa Abbey, Romanesque complex dating back to 1063, with its bell tower, on the S.S. 309 Romea at km 42 (about 12 km from Lido degli Estensi). May be reached by bicycle or car.The interior has a nave and two aisles with columns and capitals in various styles, Roman and Byzantine, originally from other buildings, and a floor decorated with rich mosaics of different styles and periods. There is a grandiose series of frescoes extending from the apse all along the nave as far as the entrance wall.
